Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
