Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
