Jurgen Klopp admits a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I won't manage a different club on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to bring him back to management, he revealed he isn't eager for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, is pleasant. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest after a summer spending spree, though he denied the suggestion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

He shared movingly about the death of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. The forward died tragically in a road accident alongside his brother in July.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Impossible.”
