19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time coach his previous coach.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
His defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
