Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun production, with an additional eleven preparing to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Conditions

These UAVs utilize a domestically developed system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and proved successful “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Assault on the Capital Described as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” following six people lost their lives and many others injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv.
